Our FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge team is seeking scientists, researchers, educators, and environmental professionals who are passionate about helping students explore the natural world.

This year's 2026–2027 BIOGLOW™ season, part of FIRST® CANOPY™, challenges students to investigate biodiversity and ecosystems while developing an innovative solution to a real-world problem. Learn more about FIRST at https://www.firstinspires.org.

As part of the Innovation Project, students will spend several months researching how ecosystems function, the challenges they face, and how science and technology can help protect or improve them.

We are looking for professionals with experience in areas such as:

• Ecology and ecosystem science

• Conservation biology

• Wildlife biology

• Forestry and urban forestry

• Wetlands, rivers, lakes, and watersheds

• Soil science

• Agriculture

• Pollinator and native plant research

• Parks and natural resource management

• Environmental engineering

• Sustainability

• Climate science

• Universities, museums, zoos, botanical gardens, and nature centers

Students hope to learn:

• How healthy ecosystems function

• Current environmental challenges and research

• How professionals collect and analyze data

• Existing technologies used to monitor or restore ecosystems

• Where innovation opportunities still exist

• What skills and careers are involved in protecting our natural world

Mentors do not need robotics experience. We simply ask that you share your expertise, answer students' questions, and help them better understand the science behind the challenge. A single interview—either in person or virtually—can make a tremendous difference in the quality of their research and inspire future careers in STEM.
